I can't believe it's been a month since our super fun trip but I'm finally going to get around to posting some pictures.
This was the kids first time on an airplane. They were so excited about riding in a plane and we built it up so much, that when the morning came, they were bursting with energy and excitement. But of course we got to the airport and the plane kept getting delayed and we ended up having to sit in the airport for 3+ hours. Needless to say it took a little of the excitement out of it but when we finally got on the plane, they were ready to go!
This was a trip of MANY firsts with them, which is always fun to experience with your little ones. We planned this trip because a close family friend was getting married and we thought it would be a good opportunity to make a family vacation out of it. We were lucky to have my parents with us for most of the trip and get to explore the city with them. We had very little planned and just wanted to go with the flow. That worked out perfect, especially with little kids.
The wedding was gorgeous, hanging out with good family and friends was fantastic, and Seattle is fun!
We did tons of things but my kids absolute FAVORITE thing out of the whole trip.... the indoor swimming pool at the hotel! Of course, the ONE free thing we did the entire time and that's their favorite. I love that kids are really so simple.
Here are some pics from the trip! Excessive amount of pictures coming up. I had hundreds and this is the condensed version.
First airplane ride
This was hilarious. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Suites in Seattle. It actually was really nice. Our room had a GREAT view of the Space Needle that was literally 1 block away. The suite had 2 full baths, a bedroom with 2 queen beds, a little kitchen area, and a pull out couch bed. My parents offered to sleep on the couch bed so that the kids could be in the same room as us. If any of you have ever seen that I Love Lucy episode where Lucy and Ricky and Fred and Ethel were sleeping at that hotel and they both kept rolling in to the middle of the bed.....hahaha.....if you've seen it, you know exactly what I'm talking about. This was the same bed, I swear they took that mattress off the show and put it in our room so we could get a good laugh. It was seriously so funny to watch my parents on that bed.
A little shop near the aquarium in downtown Seattle.
This picture of Matt, my dad and kids was in front of the Pike's Fish Market. This is the famous fish place that throws the fish around and yells all the time. The kids had a blast here. They had this sting ray that was hanging from the fish display. They must have had a string a attached to the end of it because everytime someone walked by they would pull the string and the fish would come flying at you. It shocked us every time but the kids thought it was hilarious.
These balloons were super cute but really not that fun to carry around all day. They hit everyone with them all day long.
I forget what this place is called, but my dad says it's the best chowder around. Boy, did he enjoy that bowl of soup.
Space Needle. Really cold, really late, but really fun and gorgeous!
Space Center Fun Zone- We hit up this place a couple different times while in Seattle. It has a bunch of scary carnival rides, games, bouncers, etc. The kids loved it...... and well, Matt did too....
I thought these pictures were really cool right under the space needle.
The reason we went was Kimber and Jacobs wedding. I didn't get a picture of the bride and groom but she looked stunning. The wedding was at the most gorgeous hotel right on the water. Just beautiful. Here are some of our good friends, Taylor, Nick, Andie, and Harper. This is Kimbers brother, wife, and 2 neice flower girls.
Dancing machines...
Shake what your momma gave you....
Precious kids!
A little chinese restaurant we went to the next day for lunch.
We were there a couple days longer then my parents so we did a few extra things. On Sunday, I spent most of the afternoon re-energizing. I had a terrible headache and Jack had not slept good the entire time we were there. He wasn't feeling well and I had to make some calls to the doctor and pick up prescriptions and it was just bad. This was probably our most low key day. After lunch with friends, another trip to REI, and another trip to the fun zone, we decided to take the monorail to downtown and walk around. We realized that a lot was closed so we decided to view the city from a horse and carriage ride. Relaxing right? No! The guy talked to us about the death of every single member in his family and it was the saddest, most depressing ride we had ever taken. But the kids got to feed the horse carrots, so they were happy :-). All's well that ends well. We finished off the night with dinner and a taxi ride back to the hotel.
On our last day we went to the Children's Museum. This was similar to Pretend City in Irvine but way better. They had tons of things for the kids to do. We only had about 2 hours to spend there, which ended up not being enough time. We will definitely be going back there next time we visit.
An insane amount of luggage.
Jet Blue gave the kids a pair of wings to wear. They thought they we big stuff with those on.
So Long Seattle!
